About Us

Hi, my name is Rosemary Hopkins.  I have had show dogs off and on since I was in Jr. High and no I won't tell you how long ago that was.  I started out with Smooth Fox Terriers and had those until college.  After college and a few years working I decided I had to have another show dog so this time I bought a Pembroke Welsh Corgi.  I showed Pems for about 10 years with several champions and group placers.  Family illness caused me to give up shows for several years during that time my Pems enjoyed retirement.

Five years ago the yearning for another show dog caught up with me so my friend Wham Pollard (her name is really Wilma but don't tell her I told you) and I decided to go into partnership and purchase a show dog.  We spent months trying to decide what breed we wanted.  We really liked herding dogs because of their temperaments and the fact that they very rarely smell doggy.  Well, okay the smell thing is a stupid reason but on rainy days I really appreciate the fact that I can come home and not be knocked over by "doggy odor".

Once we decided on a herding dog we started trying to be realistic about size and the dog's leg length verses our leg length, our running ability verses gaiting the different breeds around the ring, and the housing issue (in other words just how big a dog could I handle underfoot).  Considering we now have Cardigans I guess you can figure out how we felt about our athletic abilities unfortunately for us they are much faster little movers then we thought (or we are just slower).  Chris Ann Moore does the running for us most of the time now and we do the cheering.

Sooooo.................Here I am with with a house full of Cardigans and very happy about it.  They are a wonderful breed and surprisingly different from Pembrokes in personality.  I love both breeds of corgis but Cardigans have captured my heart in a very unique way.  If you are interested in a Cardigan (and who in their right mind wouldn't be) contact us, emails are best for me.

Hi, I'm Wham Pollard.  Shortly after John and I got married we bought our first dog.  She was the sweetest liver English Springer Spaniel and the light of her dad's eye.  We bred her one time and had 6 puppies.  I sold one to my friend Trudy who got me hooked on dog shows.  After I retired the Springer I started helping Rosemary with her Pems by grooming, road working, and I even took them into the ring for her.

When Rosemary and I went to Gayle Garvin's to see puppies Bubba caught my eye immediately.  The rest of the day he was basically draped over my shoulder.  He became "Bubba" because Gayle was calling him "Brother", well when these two Arkansas girls tried calling him "Brother"  it just did not sound right and the pup looked at us like who do you think you are.  We decided that name was just not going to work so since everyone in Arkansas calls their brothers Bubba it only made sense to call him that.  He seemed to like it much better, getting down right goofy when we called him --- so it has been Bubba ever since.  There are some who just can't bring themselves to call him Bubba, his handler for one so to many he is "The Bubs".  But he knows his name is Bubba and as a true southern gentleman he is damn proud of it.
